ChoreBlitz Privacy Policy
Effective date: 25 September 2026
Who we are
ChoreBlitz is made by Ryan Kohn, based in Sweden ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the information described here.
Questions or requests: support@choreblitz.com
The short version
- ChoreBlitz stores what it needs to run your household: who is in it, your rooms and chores, and who did what, when.
- The people in your household can see each other's names, avatars and chore activity. That is the point of the app.
- We do not use analytics or advertising tools, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell your data.
- Payments go through Apple. We never see your card details.
- Photos you take for Doom Pile stay on your phone. They are never uploaded.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time.
What we collect
Your account
- An account ID. When you start using ChoreBlitz we create an account automatically, without asking for your name or email. It is identified by a random ID.
- Email address, only if you choose to add one so you can sign in again on a new phone. We use it to send you sign-in codes.
- Sign in with Apple, only if you choose it. Apple gives us an identifier and an email address, which may be a private relay address if you choose to hide your email. We do not store your name from Apple.
Your profile and settings
- The display name and avatar you choose, your accent colour, and app settings such as appearance and routine reminder times.
- The goal you pick during setup, and progress such as XP, level, streaks and earned badges and trophies.
Your household
- The household's name, invite code, language, and country and currency settings.
- Rooms, chores, schedules and rotations, including who a chore is assigned to.
- Chore completions: who completed what, when, how long it took, and optional effort ratings.
- Mental-load tasks (the invisible to-dos you log), with who noticed or did them.
- Rewards, points, goals and house rules you set up.
- Appreciations: the reactions and messages members send each other in the app.
- Vacation and pause periods.
Children in your household
An adult can add a child to the household. For a child we store a display name, an avatar, and their chore activity in the household. A child can use the app on their own device after an adult shares a code with them. Children never see prices or purchase buttons. The adults in the household manage child profiles and can delete them.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token and your notification preferences so we can tell you, for example, when someone in your household appreciated a chore you did.
Your subscription
ChoreBlitz is a subscription. When someone in your household subscribes, Apple handles the payment. We receive the subscription's status: which plan, when it started and ends, whether it is in the free trial, and whether it will renew. We store this once per household, together with the random account ID of the person who paid, so everyone in the household gets access. We never receive card or bank details.
Technical information
Like any online service, our hosting provider records technical logs, such as IP addresses and request times. These are used to keep the service running and secure, and to stop abuse.
What we do not collect
- No location data.
- No contacts.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and no cross-app tracking.
- No photos. Doom Pile before/after photos are stored only on your device and are never uploaded. Share cards are saved to your photo library only when you tap to save one.
How we use it and why (legal basis)
| What | Why | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Account, profile, household data | To provide the app: share chores and progress within your household | Performing our contract with you |
| Email / Sign in with Apple | To let you sign in again and recover your account | Contract |
| Subscription status | To give your household access and handle renewals and restores | Contract |
| Push token and preferences | To send the notifications you turned on | Consent (you can turn it off in iOS Settings) |
| Technical logs, rate limits | Security, preventing abuse, fixing problems | Legitimate interest in a secure, working service |
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Who can see it
- Members of your household see each other's display names, avatars, chore activity, points, streaks and appreciations. Mental-load features are only shown to adults.
- Service providers that run parts of ChoreBlitz for us, only for that purpose:
| Provider | What they do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, sign-in and server functions | EU (Ireland) |
| RevenueCat | Manages subscriptions: receives your purchase receipts, your random account ID, your household ID and basic device information | USA |
| Apple | App Store payments, Sign in with Apple, delivering push notifications | Apple's own terms |
| Expo | Delivers push notifications to Apple, and app updates | USA |
When data goes to the USA, it is protected by the EU's Standard Contractual Clauses, which are part of our agreements with RevenueCat and Expo.
We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
How long we keep it
- While your account exists, we keep your data so the app works.
- When you delete your account (Settings › Delete account), we delete your account and your personal data. If you are the only adult in your household, the whole household is deleted too, including its child profiles. If other adults remain, the household and its shared history stay for them, but your account is gone.
- Subscription record. Your household's subscription record is kept for as long as the household exists. If the person who paid deletes their account, their account ID is removed from it. Apple and RevenueCat keep their own purchase records under their own policies.
- If a subscription ends without renewal, we keep the household's data so it can pick up where it left off if someone subscribes again. Nothing is deleted when a trial or subscription ends — the app is locked, not emptied. You can delete your account at any time.
- Abandoned households. If a household has no active subscription and nobody in it opens the app for 12 months, we delete the household and its data. Any member opening the app starts the 12 months over, so a household that is still being used is never deleted.
- Technical logs are kept for a short period by our hosting provider and then deleted.
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it in the Settings app: tap your name, then Subscriptions.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to receive a copy in a portable format, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent (for example, for notifications). Most of this you can do in the app; for anything else, email support@choreblitz.com. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY), imy.se, or to the data protection authority where you live.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections. Access to household data is limited to members of that household by rules in the database itself. Server-side keys are never stored in the app.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app.
